Honda, the renowned Japanese automaker, is making its foray into the e-mobility market with the launch of the EM1 E electric scooter. This marks Honda’s first venture into producing electric motorcycles, following its announcement last year to release 10 different electric two-wheeler models by 2025.

Honda EM1 E: The First Electric Moped by Honda

The Honda EM1 E is Honda’s maiden electric moped, equipped with a 1.7kW motor capable of delivering a maximum torque of 90Nm and a top speed of 45km/h. This places the EM1 E in direct competition with Yamaha’s Neo e-scooter, which made its debut in 2022.

Impressive Range and Removable Battery

The Honda EM1 E comes with Honda’s proprietary removable Lithium-Ion battery, known as the Honda Mobile Power Pack e. In econ mode, the scooter offers a riding range of 48km. However, during WMTC Class 1 testing, a range of 30km was reported. Charging the e-scooter from 0 to 50% takes approximately 2 hours, while a full recharge requires 6 hours.

Lease Purchase Option and Stylish Design

Honda plans to make the EM1 E available for lease purchase, offering customers three color variants: white, silver, and black. The scooter features front disc brakes and rear drum brakes for effective stopping power. Its suspension system comprises telescopic forks at the front and twin shocks at the rear, ensuring a smooth ride.

Release Date and Pricing

While an official release date for the Honda EM1 E has not been announced, it is expected to hit the market later this year. Pricing details for the electric scooter are currently unavailable; however, it is anticipated to come with an affordable and competitive price tag.
