British automotive company, MG Motors has recently launched its latest electric vehicle, the MG Comet EV in India. The city-friendly electric car is priced at an introductory cost of Rs 7.98 lakh (ex-showroom). The vehicle is equipped with advanced features like dual 10.25-inch screens, steering-mounted controls, parking sensors and cameras, and premium-looking light-colored interiors.

 

The MG Comet EV comes with a 17.3 kWh battery pack, which can offer a certified range of about 230 km on a single charge. The vehicle is being offered in one trim level and five color options, which include Aurora Silver, Candy White, Starry Black, and dual-tone Apple Green and Starry Black and Candy White and Starry Black.

 

MG Comet EV Specifications

The MG Comet EV is 2,974mm long, 1,505mm wide, and gets a 2,010mm wheelbase. Its compact dimensions allow a turning radius of just 4.2m. The vehicle’s tallboy design opens up space for four adults and even six-footers can comfortably fit inside the Comet EV.

 

The MG Comet EV is powered by an electric motor that can generate 42bhp of peak power and 110Nm of peak torque. The motor sips juice from a 17.3kWh battery pack that delivers a claimed range of 230km. The battery pack takes about seven hours to charge from zero to 100 percent via a 3.3kW charger.

 

The vehicle runs on 145/70 R12 tires and gets discs only at the front. Underpinning the Comet EV is a McPherson Strut and a Multi-Link Coil Suspension at the front and rear, respectively. The vehicle’s battery pack is IP67 certified and gets safety features such as ABS + EBD, rear parking sensors and camera, TPMS, day/night mirror, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and dual front airbags.

 

Features of the MG Comet EV

The MG Comet EV is equipped with LED lighting, an illuminated MG logo, a 10.25-inch fully digital MID, a 10.25-inch central infotainment screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, keyless go with a smart key system, power windows, manual AC, 2 speakers, charging sockets, as well as connected car tech.

 

With the MG Comet EV, MG Motors is taking on the likes of Tata Tiago EV and Citroen eC3 electric hatchbacks in India. The Comet EV is expected to make an impact in the Indian market, as it offers a blend of advanced features, affordable pricing, and an impressive range.
