Yamaha, a renowned name in the world of motorcycles, is expanding its electric two-wheeler portfolio with the introduction of two new offerings: the Yamaha Booster Easy e-bike and the Yamaha Booster S-Pedelec electric moped. These innovative vehicles are Yamaha’s response to the growing demand for clean and sustainable transportation solutions.
Yamaha’s Expertise in Power Delivery
Leveraging its expertise in delivering low-power combustion engine scooters, Yamaha has ventured into the realm of e-bikes and e-mopeds. The Booster Easy e-bike and Booster S-Pedelec e-moped showcase Yamaha’s commitment to quality and reliability in the electric vehicle market. Designed to cater to the needs of urban dwellers, these models aim to provide an easy, enjoyable, and affordable means of urban mobility.
Embracing Yamaha’s Switch-ON Strategy
The Yamaha Booster models are part of Yamaha’s Switch ON electric vehicle strategy, which encompasses a range of electric two-wheelers. This lineup includes popular models like the Moro eMTBs, Wabash gravel e-bike, and CrossCore city e-bike. The Booster Easy and Booster S-Pedelec inherit the spirit of Yamaha’s original 50cc and MKB scooters from the 1980s and 1990s in Europe.
They feature an aluminum U-frame with an exposed diecast section, Yamaha’s signature fork cover and front fender, and 20-inch wheels with 4-inch fat tires. Powering these models is Yamaha’s latest PW-series drive unit, ensuring reliable performance.
Enhanced Riding Experience and Performance
Yamaha’s Zero Cadence technology provides instant pedal assist through the S2 mid-mount motor of the Booster models. Additionally, an Automatic Support Mode delivers extra power when conquering challenging terrains and inclines.
The Booster Easy offers assistance up to 25km/h, while the Booster S-Pedelec can reach speeds of up to 45km/h. Both models provide a maximum torque of 75Nm, and the battery can last up to 120km on a single charge. In Europe, the Booster S-Pedelec is categorized as an electric moped, requiring a license and insurance.
Comfort and Convenience Features
The Yamaha Booster models prioritize rider comfort and convenience. With a robust suspension fork design and fat tires, the ride becomes smooth and enjoyable. The bikes come equipped with Supernova headlights and Koso LED tail lights, ensuring visibility during nighttime rides.
They also feature a rear carrier and offer optional accessories such as baskets, bags, smartphone mounts, and side covers. The Booster Easy features a 1.7-inch LCD display with integrated control buttons, while the S-Pedelec boasts a 2.8-inch color dot-matrix TFT display. The S-Pedelec can be paired with a smartphone via Bluetooth for fitness tracking and navigation purposes. Additionally, the S-Pedelec e-moped is equipped with a horn, license holder, and mirror.
Availability and Pricing
Currently, the Yamaha Booster Easy is available in Europe, while the Booster S-Pedelec is set to launch in June. Yamaha will announce pricing and further details for these exciting e-mobility offerings in the near future.
