Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is a state-owned telecommunications company in India, and it has been at the forefront of providing affordable and reliable services to the people of the country for decades. Now, BSNL is reportedly considering launching 5G services on the 600Mhz, 300Mhz, and 6Ghz bands. This move is significant because 5G technology has the potential to revolutionize the way people communicate and access information, and BSNL’s entry into this field could have a profound impact on the telecommunications landscape in India.

Despite offering 2G and 3G networks, BSNL is known for having trouble providing 4G services across India. However, the company is nearing completion of the installation of one million 4G towers across the nation. In point of fact, a brand-new report asserts that a group of ministers is currently evaluating BSNL’s 4G tender, which calls for the installation of one lakh towers. Services are anticipated to begin nationwide within the next 18 to 24 months.

Ashwini Vaishnaw, the minister in charge of communications, claims that BSNL’s 4G services will be accessible throughout the entire nation, including the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Maharashtra. In addition, the company intends to provide 4G services to rural areas. The telco is particularly offering 4G services in the 2100 Mhz band, which is mid-band spectrum. In addition, the business may shut down the 3G network in order to upgrade or repurpose the spectrum for 4G services.

For those who aren’t familiar, BSNL already offers 4G services to some areas, including Andaman & Nicobar, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chennai Telecom District, Chhattisgarh, North East, Odisha, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, UP (East) (West), Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Kolkata Telecom

Despite these challenges, BSNL’s decision to launch 5G services on the 600Mhz, 300Mhz, and 6Ghz bands is a significant development for the telecommunications industry in India. By leveraging these bands, BSNL could provide affordable and reliable 5G services to people in both rural and urban areas, and help bridge the digital divide in the country. However, it will require significant investments in infrastructure and coordination with the government to make this a reality. Nevertheless, BSNL’s foray into 5G is an exciting development, and it will be interesting to see how this plays out in the coming months and years.
