Dixon Technologies, one of India’s largest electronics manufacturing services providers, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu government to set up a state-of-the-art electronics manufacturing facility near Chennai. The investment, valued at ₹1,000 crore, will be made at Oragadam, a prominent industrial hub located around 45 km south of Chennai.
Key Project Highlights
The upcoming facility will be situated in the Indospace Industrial Park in Oragadam and is slated to specialize in the production of laptops and all-in-one personal computers. In addition, it will offer electronic manufacturing services (EMS) to a range of partner brands. The new plant marks a strategic expansion for Dixon Technologies into high-value electronics manufacturing.
Focus on HP Laptops & Job Creation
The first production line at the new plant will focus on manufacturing HP laptops, as announced earlier and reiterated by Tamil Nadu’s Industries Minister T R B Rajaa. The project is expected to generate more than 5,000 job opportunities, significantly boosting employment in the region.
MoU Signing Ceremony & Government Support
The formal MoU exchange took place at the Tamil Nadu Secretariat, where Dixon Technologies’ Executive Chairman Sunil Vachani and Vice President Prithvi Vachani were present. They signed the agreement with Darez Ahamed, MD and CEO of Tamil Nadu’s investment promotion agency, Guidance. The ceremony was held in the presence of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and Industries Minister T R B Rajaa.
