Since Apple’s announcement of the M2 Ultra chipset at the annual WWDC event, anticipation has been building for the next generation of Mac Pro and Mac Studio. With the release date approaching, Geekbench has provided a sneak peek into the impressive performance capabilities of the M2 Ultra.

Outstanding Geekbench Scores

The Geekbench listing reveals the M2 Ultra’s exceptional performance in both single-core and multi-core tests. Scoring 1,956 in the single-core test and 27,945 in the multi-core test on Geekbench 5, the M2 Ultra showcases its processing prowess. It’s worth noting that the chipset’s scores may vary slightly on Geekbench 6, where it achieves 2,837 in the single-core test and 21,730 in the multi-core test.

A Step Ahead of its Predecessor

Apple’s M2 Ultra chipset promises significant improvements over its predecessor, the M1 Ultra. With up to 20 percent faster CPU performance, the M2 Ultra establishes itself as Apple’s most powerful chipset to date. These benchmarks demonstrate that the M2 Ultra is approximately 10 percent faster than its predecessor across both single-core and multi-core tasks, ensuring a smoother and more efficient user experience.

Impressive Component Upgrades

The M2 Ultra incorporates cutting-edge components that contribute to its remarkable performance. With a 24-core CPU and a 76-core GPU, it delivers a 20 percent improvement in CPU performance and a 30 percent boost in GPU performance compared to its predecessor. These enhancements allow for faster rendering, smoother graphics, and seamless multitasking. Additionally, the M2 Ultra boasts a 32-core Neural Engine that operates 40 percent faster, further enhancing AI-related tasks and machine learning capabilities.

Real-World Performance Gains

During the WWDC keynote, Apple emphasized that the new Mac Pro equipped with the M2 Ultra chipset is up to three times faster than the Intel-based model in specific professional workflows such as video transcoding and 3D simulation. This underlines Apple’s commitment to empowering professionals with the necessary tools to excel in their fields.

The M2 Ultra’s imminent release marks a significant milestone in Apple’s journey toward pushing the boundaries of technological innovation. As the company continues to refine its chipsets, the M2 Ultra stands as a testament to Apple’s relentless pursuit of superior performance, delivering an unparalleled computing experience for users of the Mac Pro and Mac Studio.
