Apple is accelerating its retail expansion in India, with CEO Tim Cook confirming the opening of new Apple Stores in the country by the end of 2025. This announcement comes during Apple’s Q2 2025 earnings call, highlighting India’s growing importance to the tech giant’s global strategy — both in terms of manufacturing and consumer demand.
Key Points:
Apple CEO Tim Cook confirms more retail stores for India in 2025.
Expected locations: Pune, Noida, Mumbai, and Bengaluru.
Apple already has two stores: Apple BKC (Mumbai) and Apple Saket (Delhi).
New stores are part of a broader global retail push, including the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
Majority of iPhones sold in the US this June quarter will originate from India.
Apple’s Retail Expansion in India: What’s Coming?
During the Q2 2025 earnings call, Tim Cook said,
“In retail, in addition to the two stores we opened during the quarter, we’re also looking forward to a new retail store in the UAE, the arrival of the online store in Saudi Arabia, and new retail stores in India later this year.”
Though Cook did not mention specific Indian cities or store count, recent reports suggest that four new Apple Stores are set to launch in India — strategically placed in Pune, Noida, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. These additions will significantly boost Apple’s retail presence in India, which currently consists of just two official stores.
Reported Locations of the New Apple Stores
According to industry sources, Apple has already secured sites for at least two of the upcoming retail locations:
Pune: A new Apple Store is expected to open at Phoenix Marketcity (Koregaon Park), a premium retail destination.
Noida: The second location is likely to be inside DLF Mall of India, one of North India’s most visited shopping malls.
For the other two cities — Bengaluru and Mumbai — Apple is still in the process of finalizing suitable locations. If confirmed, the new Mumbai store will become the second Apple outlet in the city after Apple BKC, which opened in April 2023.
Existing Apple Stores in India
Apple made its retail debut in India in April 2023, with the launch of:
Apple BKC (Mumbai): Inaugurated on April 18, 2023, located in the Bandra Kurla Complex.
Apple Saket (Delhi): Opened on April 20, 2023, situated in Select Citywalk Mall, Saket.
These stores have not only enhanced the customer experience but have also become a symbol of Apple’s deepening commitment to the Indian market.
India’s Role in Apple’s Global Supply Chain
Another significant takeaway from the earnings call is Apple’s increasing reliance on India for manufacturing. Tim Cook highlighted that a large share of iPhones sold in the US this June quarter would be manufactured in India.
“For the June quarter, we do expect the majority of the iPhones sold in the US will have India as their country of origin,” Cook stated.
He also added that Vietnam would be the primary origin country for iPads, Macs, Apple Watches, and AirPods sold in the US, showing Apple’s diversification beyond China.
Conclusion
Apple’s decision to open more retail outlets in India underlines the country’s dual importance — as a growing consumer base and a key manufacturing hub. The upcoming Apple Stores in Pune, Noida, Mumbai, and Bengaluru will offer better access to official services, improved customer support, and an enhanced buying experience.
As Apple continues to localize production and expand its presence in India, it’s clear the company sees the country as one of its most strategic markets for the next decade.
