Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter and founder of Tesla and SpaceX, has announced plans to develop an artificial intelligence (AI) program called “TruthGPT.” This AI program will be solely devoted to understanding the nature of the universe, which Musk believes is the best “path to safety.” During an interview with Fox News, Musk discussed his plans and strategies for developing TruthGPT.
According to Musk, an AI program that cares about understanding the universe is unlikely to annihilate humans because humans are also an interesting and beautiful part of the universe. He believes that creating an AI program focused on comprehending the universe is the most effective method for doing so. Musk stated, “I’m going to start something that I call ‘TruthGPT,’ or a maximum truth-seeking AI that tries to understand the nature of the universe.”
The name “TruthGPT” may ring a bell for some. In February, Musk tweeted that what we all need is “TruthGPT,” which was a not-so-subtle hint about his plans. Musk’s plans to establish “TruthGPT” have been met with mixed reactions, particularly since he has previously expressed concerns about the dangers of artificial intelligence.
Musk has been critical of OpenAI, the parent company of ChatGPT, for a variety of reasons. He had initially expressed concerns about the dangers of artificial intelligence and thought ChatGPT was “too woke.” After that, he began focusing on OpenAI and claimed that Microsoft had transformed it into a profit-making machine, despite the fact that the company was never meant to be like that. Additionally, he had criticized OpenAI’s decision to become a business for profit and questioned whether this was “legal.”
It is important to note that Musk was one of the people who founded OpenAI in 2015 when it was first established. However, he resigned from the company in 2018 and gave up all of his stake in it. Some reports have suggested that Musk’s departure from OpenAI was a result of a conflict of interest, as his other companies, Tesla and SpaceX, were also working on AI technologies at the time.
Despite the criticisms and controversies surrounding his plans, Musk remains committed to developing TruthGPT. He believes that creating an AI program focused on understanding the universe is the best way to ensure the safety and longevity of humanity. Only time will tell if TruthGPT will live up to its name and fulfill Musk’s ambitious goals.
