Google’s Pixel series has become increasingly popular over the years, with each new release boasting better features and specifications. The tech giant’s Pixel 7 series was a huge success in 2022, and now, we’re eagerly anticipating the arrival of the Pixel 8 series, set to debut in the second half of 2023. While there’s still much to be uncovered about the forthcoming phones, let’s take a closer look at what we know so far about the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro.

Display Size and Production

Display analyst Ross Young recently tweeted that the Pixel 8 will have a 6.16-inch display, while the Pixel 8 Pro will feature a larger 6.7-inch display. These dimensions are comparable to the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, respectively. According to Young, the display panels for both devices will enter production in May of this year, giving us an idea of when to expect the phone’s launch.

Design and Specifications

The Pixel 8 is expected to have rounded corners instead of the angled edges are seen on the Pixel 7, as well as a similar horizontal camera module on the back panel. Leaked renders suggest that the Pixel 8 will have dual rear cameras, while the Pixel 8 Pro will likely feature a telephoto camera as part of its triple rear camera setup, similar to the Pixel 7 Pro.

In terms of dimensions, the Pixel 8 is said to measure 150.5 x 70.8 x 8.9 mm and has a depth of 12 mm, including the camera module. The base of the phone will have a USB Type-C connector and a speaker grille, while the right side will have volume and power buttons.

The Pixel 8 Pro, on the other hand, will have rounded corners and a selfie camera hole punch cutout in the center, according to leaked images. The phone will have power and volume buttons on the right side, with the speaker grille and USB Type-C connector located at the bottom. The handset will reportedly measure 162.6 x 76.5 x 8.7 mm, with a thickness of 12 mm, including the camera module.

Chipset and Other Features

While there’s no official word yet on what will power the Pixel 8 series, a previous report suggests that the phones will be powered by a new Tensor G3 chipset. This will likely offer improved performance and features compared to its predecessor, the Tensor G2. Additionally, phones are expected to have 5G connectivity, an important feature in today’s increasingly connected world.

In terms of other features, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro is expected to run on the latest Android operating system, offer improved battery life and have an updated user interface. We can also expect enhanced camera features, such as improved image stabilization and better low-light performance.

Conclusion

The Pixel 8 series is still a few months away, but leaks and rumors are already giving us a good idea of what to expect. With a bigger display, improved specifications, and a sleek design, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are sure to be highly anticipated releases in the second half of 2023.
