Ahead of the annual Google I/O developer event scheduled for May 10, rumours and leaks have been surfacing about Google’s latest software and hardware offerings. One such leak is by tipster Evan Blass, who shared an official image of the upcoming Google Pixel Tablet. Here’s what we know so far about the tablet’s specifications, design and other details.
Design and Colours
The Pixel Tablet, which was teased last year, is expected to be a premium tablet offering for the US and some other markets. The tablet is rumoured to launch in four colours, and Google has already previewed one colour option with black bezels around the display and a green rear panel and frame. The tablet will have an aluminium body made of recycled materials with a nano-ceramic finish similar to porcelain, and a rear panel with a single camera sensor.
Display and Bezels
The tablet is expected to feature a 10.95-inch display with a 1600 x 2560-pixel resolution. The front design of the Pixel Tablet, as per the official image, shows that it has slightly thick bezels around the display. The white bezels surround the display, while the frame seems to have a beige colour. The front camera is positioned accurately on the right bezel to help with video calls and can also be used while the tablet is docked.
Speaker Dock and Other Features
The Pixel Tablet can be magnetically attached to a speaker dock, which can also charge the tablet. The dock can be used to watch slideshows of photos from Google Photos or watch videos. The tablet will run on Android 13 out of the box and will feature at least 8GB of RAM and launch with two storage options. The base 128GB variant of the Pixel tab will reportedly be priced between EUR 600-650 (roughly Rs 54,100- Rs 58,600).
Conclusion
While Google has not confirmed any details or the list of products launching at I/O 2023, rumours and leaks suggest that the Pixel Tablet will be one of the hardware products announced. The tablet’s design and features, including the speaker dock, show that Google is positioning the device as a home device suitable for entertainment and productivity. With the Pixel Tablet’s launch just around the corner, it will be interesting to see how it fares in the highly competitive tablet market.
