Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC is set to release a new mid-range smartphone, the HTC U23 Pro, with some impressive specs. While HTC has not been very active in the smartphone market recently, it still serves customers in some markets worldwide, where it will launch the U23 Pro. Thanks to a recent Geekbench listing, some of the HTC U23 Pro’s key specifications have been revealed.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC and RAM
The HTC U23 Pro will feature a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC, which is an octa-core system with a peak clock speed of 2.4GHz for the prime core, three performance cores clocked at 2.36GHz, and four efficiency cores clocked at 1.8GHz. Additionally, the SoC comes with an Adreno 644 GPU for graphics performance. The U23 Pro listed on Geekbench had 12GB of RAM, but it is also expected to launch with an 8GB RAM variant.
Display and Camera
The HTC U23 Pro will reportedly feature an AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a hole-punch cutout for the front camera. The device may also sport a triple-camera setup on the back, but the sensor details remain unknown.
Other Features
The U23 Pro was spotted running Android 13 out of the box, making it one of the first devices to ship with the latest Android operating system. The device is likely to launch with 128GB and 256GB storage options. A recent Bluetooth SIG listing also revealed that the U23 Pro will offer support for Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6E, and Qualcomm FastConnect 6700.
Release Date and Availability
The HTC U23 Pro is expected to launch in Taiwan in June, with no word on whether it will make it to other markets. Unfortunately, HTC is no longer active in India, so the U23 Pro is unlikely to launch in the country.
Final Thoughts
Overall, the HTC U23 Pro looks like a promising upper mid-range smartphone, offering impressive specs for its price point. It will be interesting to see how the device performs in the market and whether it helps HTC regain its foothold in the highly competitive smartphone industry.
