Ola Cabs, a prominent player in India’s ride-hailing industry, is taking a step further in enhancing the ride experience for its customers. The company has announced the expansion of its innovative Ola Prime Plus service to three more major cities in the country – Mumbai, Pune, and Hyderabad. This move comes on the heels of a successful pilot testing phase in Bengaluru, where the service received positive feedback and demonstrated its ability to meet high-quality standards.

CEO Bhavish Aggarwal took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the exciting news. According to his announcement, select customers in the newly added cities can now have access to the Ola Prime Plus service. Aggarwal also assured that a full-scale rollout is imminent, building on the momentum gained from the pilot program’s success.
Ola Prime Plus:
Elevating the Cab Booking Experience While many details about Ola Prime Plus are still under wraps as it undergoes testing, Aggarwal has characterized it as a premium service designed to elevate the overall ride experience by addressing common pain points associated with cab bookings.
The core promise of the service revolves around offering well-maintained vehicles, professional drivers, and guaranteed rides that meet and exceed customer expectations.
Although the exact pricing structure remains undisclosed, a screenshot shared by Aggarwal hints at an intriguing possibility. The Prime Plus fares appear to be notably more affordable than even Ola Mini fares for the same distances. For instance, a 16km ride in Bengaluru under the Prime Plus service is priced at Rs 455, whereas the same distance in an Ola Mini is priced at Rs 535.
A Subscription-Based Model for Prime Plus? Speculation is rife that Ola Prime Plus might adopt a subscription-based model, taking cues from the company’s prior experience with Ola Select.
The previous subscription service offered a host of benefits, including exemption from peak pricing, priority booking, complimentary WiFi, exclusive customer support, access to top-rated drivers and vehicles, special partner offers, and invitations to Ola events. While Ola Select was eventually phased out around 2021, some X posts from Select customers highlighted issues.
As Ola Prime Plus expands its reach to encompass Mumbai, Pune, and Hyderabad, the true test lies ahead in sustaining the superior user experience that marked the pilot phase.
Armed with positive feedback from the Bengaluru trial, Ola aims to deliver a seamless, hassle-free, and premium ride experience to a wider customer base in these new cities. With a focus on meeting and exceeding expectations, Ola is setting its sights on shaping the future of transportation services in India.
