Jio 5G Network in India
5G spectrum auction was received by the Indian government bidding at Rs. 1.5 lakh crore or in other words, it was 71% of the total 5G spectrum. Reliance Jio has been the top spender in the 5G spectrum auction. The company paid Rs. 88078 crores to own the rights to the 24740MHz 5G spectrum. Now, the company has the access to 700MHz, 800MHz, 1800MHz, 3300MHz, and 26GHz bands.
However, the company has chosen nine cities to start the initial phase of the 5G spectrum. These cities include Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Jamnagar, Hyderabad, Lucknow, and others. Another great news is that the company has tied up with the University of Oulu in Finland to accelerate the 6G research program and bring access into the world as soon as possible.
The department of Telecom estimates that 5G technology will have download speeds 10x faster than the 4G but the speed optimizations would make additional costs. Most industry experts predict that the 5G data plans would cost at least 30% more than the existing 4G plans.
