Asus, the Taiwanese electronics company, is all set to release its much-awaited gaming smartphone, the ROG Phone 7 Pro, next week. While the smartphone has not yet been launched, a leaked image of the phone’s design, shared by tipster Evan Blass, has surfaced online. The image reveals that the phone has the same design as its predecessor, the ROG Phone 6 Pro.
The ROG Phone 7 Pro has a front camera in the top-left corner of the display, and its dimensions are nearly identical to those of its two predecessors. The bezels are thin on the sides, but the top bezels are sizeable to accommodate the sound system speakers. The device appears to have a triple rear camera setup, with branding details indicating that it supports 8K video recording.
One of the standout features of the ROG Phone 7 Pro is its compatibility with the company’s phone cooling accessory. The air cooling module, known as “Active Aero,” will help cool the phone during extended esports sessions, which typically generate the highest amount of power. The cooling module is the same as the one supported by the previous generation gaming phone, and its capabilities, including RGB LED lighting on the rear, remain unchanged.
As for the phone’s expected features, the ROG Phone 7 Pro is rumored to have up to 16GB of memory and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC running at 3.19GHz. The phone could also have a 6.78-inch full HD+ AMOLED display with the same 165Hz refresh rate and 720Hz touch sampling rate as its predecessor. In terms of the camera, it could have a 50MP Sony IMX766 primary image sensor, a 13MP ultra-wide unit, and a 5MP macro unit.
The ROG Phone 7 Pro is expected to be launched on April 13th, along with its base model, the Asus ROG Phone 7. With its high-end specs and gaming-oriented features, the ROG Phone 7 Pro is anticipated to be one of the most powerful Android smartphones on the market. While the leaked image shows that the phone’s design is similar to its predecessor, it remains to be seen whether the phone will have any significant upgrades or improvements that could set it apart from the ROG Phone 6 Pro.
