Samsung is rumored to be launching the Galaxy Z Flip 5 in August of this year, and a concept render of its design has surfaced online. The clamshell foldable smartphone’s external display is expected to be larger than its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Flip 4, which had a 1.9-inch outer display. The concept rendered by Sammobile suggests a large external display covering a wider surface area. Users might be able to take selfies on the enormous cover screen and see notifications like the time and battery percentage.
Rumors also suggest that the Galaxy Z Flip 5’s outer display will be 3.4 inches, making it larger than other clamshell foldable phones on the market. The phone is expected to be powered by a modified version of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. A new Geekbench posting supposedly confirmed the presence of the modified SoC on the handset.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 was released in August of last year with a starting price of Rs. 89,999 for the base model with 128GB storage and 8GB RAM. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 is expected to come with improvements over its predecessor.
The Galaxy Z Flip 4 features a primary full-HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex Display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and measures 6.7 inches. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC and features a dual rear camera setup with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide primary sensor and a 12-megapixel wide-angle sensor. Other key features include a 10-megapixel selfie camera, up to 512GB of inbuilt storage, and IPX8 water resistance. It has a 3,700mAh battery that can be charged quickly with 25W.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5 is still months away from its expected launch, and details about its features and specifications are still rumors at this point. Nonetheless, the concept render and rumored details suggest that Samsung is pushing the boundaries of foldable phone technology, and fans of the Galaxy Z Flip series are eagerly awaiting the new phone’s release.
