In a significant update, Google has expanded the language support for its ChatGPT alternative, Bard. Users can now access Bard in nine Indian languages, namely Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati, and Urdu. This update aims to make Bard more accessible and useful for a wider user base in India. In addition to these Indian languages, Bard also supports over 40 languages, including Bahasa Indonesia.
With the expanded language support, users can now benefit from various features offered by Bard. They can listen to Bard’s responses in their preferred language, enabling them to hear correct pronunciations or enjoy poems and scripts. Users also have the flexibility to customize the tone and style of Bard’s responses, choosing from options like simple, long, short, professional, or casual. Initially available in English, this feature will soon expand to other languages.
To enhance productivity, Google has introduced new features for managing conversations with Bard. Users can now pin and rename conversations, making it easier to organize and reference important discussions. The sidebar provides quick access to recent conversations. Additionally, users can easily share parts or entire conversations with their network, facilitating collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Google has integrated the capabilities of Google Lens into Bard, allowing users to upload images and receive assistance. Whether it’s gathering more information about an image or generating a suitable caption, Bard can analyze the photo and provide relevant insights. This feature is currently available in English (US) and will be expanded to support more languages soon.
In May, Google upgraded Bard to PaLM 2, a more powerful large language model. This upgrade has enabled Bard to improve its math and reasoning skills, as well as coding capabilities. Coding has quickly emerged as one of the popular activities performed with Bard. To further support coding enthusiasts, Google has introduced the ability to export Python code to Replit, in addition to Google Colab. This feature is accessible in over 40 languages, empowering users to collaborate and work on coding projects seamlessly.
With the expansion of language support and new features, Google Bard aims to provide a more inclusive and versatile AI chatbot experience for users, fostering productivity and facilitating knowledge sharing in diverse linguistic communities.
