Chinese smartphone manufacturer Vivo is rumored to be working on the Vivo S17e, S17, and S17 Pro. The Vivo S16e, S16, and S16 Pro, which were launched in December 2022, are likely to be replaced by these new devices. Recent reports have shed light on the model numbers and some specifications of the upcoming smartphones. Now, a new Weibo post by tipster Wisdom Pikachu has revealed more details about the chipset and launch timeframe for the Vivo S17 series.

 

Launch Date and Festival Timing

According to Wisdom Pikachu, the Vivo S17 series will probably be launched in May 2023, coinciding with the 618 online shopping festival in China, which will be around June 18. The launch timing may be strategic, as Vivo could take advantage of the festival attendees spending more.

 

Chipsets

The tipster mentioned three chipsets in the Weibo post: the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip, the Dimensity 8200 chip, and the Snapdragon 778G chip. It is expected that the Vivo S17e, S17, and S17 Pro may run on these chips. Interestingly, these same chipsets are also rumored to be present in the OPPO Reno 10 lineup.

 

Model Numbers and Features

The Vivo S17 series has model numbers V2285A, V2283A, and V2284A, respectively, according to leaked information. All three devices are expected to feature an OIS-aided main camera, a color-changing rear shell, and an AMOLED screen with curved edges. Options for RAM and storage include 8 GB, 12 GB, and 128 GB, 256 GB. It is also anticipated that the S17 Pro may offer a variant with 16 GB of RAM for customers with more stringent requirements.
