The popular instant messaging platform, WhatsApp, owned by Meta, is constantly adding new features to enhance the user experience. Recently, WhatsApp has been working on a new feature that could assist in saving contact details. According to reports, users may soon be able to add contact information such as phone numbers, email addresses, and birthdays directly within WhatsApp. This feature has been discovered in the beta version and may soon make its way into the stable version of WhatsApp for Android.

WhatsApp beta tracker WABetaInfo reported that the company is testing a new feature that allows users to save contact information directly within the app. The new user interface reportedly appears when users tap on the New Contact option. This user interface is said to be similar to that of the Google Contacts app.

In addition to adding names and phone numbers, users will also have the ability to add other details such as birthdays, email addresses, and more. Once the information is entered, the user will be given the option to save the contact locally on the device or to the Google account linked to the device. With this feature, users may no longer need to leave WhatsApp and go to the Contacts app when saving a new contact.

According to reports, this feature is being tested on the following Android beta versions: 2.23.8.2, 2.23.8.4, 2.23.8.5, and 2.23.8.6. Although this feature is already available for the iOS version, the Android version has not yet received it.

WhatsApp for Android is also reportedly testing a brand-new navigation bar user interface. This user interface is expected to be similar to the iOS version, with the navigation bar being placed at the bottom of the app instead of the top. This new user interface should be visible to Android 2.23.8.4 beta users of WhatsApp.

Overall, the new feature being tested by WhatsApp for Android will allow users to easily add and save contact information without leaving the app. This is just one of the many features that WhatsApp has been working on to enhance its user experience. With the new navigation bar user interface also being tested, WhatsApp is proving that it is constantly striving to improve its app for its users.
