The instant messaging app, WhatsApp, owned by Meta, is launching a new feature called Community Navigation, that allows users to organise their chat groups in a better way. The feature is currently available to some beta testers who have installed the latest WhatsApp beta for the Android 2.23.9.16 update. The Community Navigation feature groups all sub-groups of a community together in one place within the chat list, which helps users to identify and access the right group with ease.
Why Community Navigation is Essential
Before the introduction of Community Navigation, users faced challenges distinguishing between multiple groups with the same name, but that belonged to different communities. This could lead to confusion and make it difficult for users to find and access the group they were looking for.
How the feature works
With the new update, all sub-groups are now listed under their respective communities, even within the chat list, which makes it easier for users to identify and access the right group. There is also a similar feature that helps users navigate through the list of sub-groups of a certain community right within the conversation header.
Other updates from WhatsApp
In addition to the Community Navigation Feature, WhatsApp is also rolling out a new feature that allows users to add a description to forwarded media. This feature will enable users to send an additional message after removing the current caption of the forwarded media. While the official changelog still mentions the ability to create custom stickers, WhatsApp plans to roll out the Community Navigation feature to more users over the coming days.
Before You Take
If you haven’t yet received the new update, it’s essential to keep your app updated to the latest version, which will enable you to access the new feature when it is released. The feature is expected to make group navigation more comfortable for users, especially for those who belong to multiple communities with different groups having similar names.
