Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi is reportedly gearing up to launch its latest budget device, the Redmi 12, in Indonesia. The smartphone has made an appearance on the TKDN certification website, hinting at an imminent release.

While the listing does not reveal any specific details about the device, it’s likely that the model number 23053RN02A corresponds to the Indonesian version of the Redmi 12. Let’s take a closer look at what we can expect from this upcoming device.

Redmi 12: What We Know So Far

The Redmi 12 is expected to feature a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging support, according to a previous FCC listing. The device is also likely to come with an operating system based on Android 13. While other details about the device are currently unknown, we can get an idea of what to expect by looking at the specifications of the recently launched Redmi 12C.

Redmi 12C Specs Overview

The Redmi 12C features a 6.71-inch IPS LCD panel that delivers an HD+ resolution of 1650 x 720 pixels. The display boasts a 20.6:9 aspect ratio, 500 nits of brightness, a 1500:1 contrast ratio, and a 70 percent NTSC color gamut. The device runs on Android 12 OS with MIUI 13 overlay, and the MIUI dialer instead of the Google dialer.

Under the hood, the Redmi 12C is powered by a Helio G85 chipset, accompanied by up to 6 GB of LPDDR4x RAM, up to 5 GB of virtual RAM, and up to 128 GB of eMMC 5.1 storage. The device also comes with a dedicated microSD card slot for additional storage.

The Redmi 12C features a 5-megapixel camera on the front and a 50-megapixel primary camera, accompanied by a depth sensor and an LED flash on the back. The phone also offers face unlock and a rear-facing fingerprint scanner for added security.

Other features of the Redmi 12C include a 5,000mAh battery with 10W charging support, dual-SIM support, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, a micro USB port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

What to Expect from the Redmi 12

Based on the specifications of the Redmi 12C, it’s likely that the Redmi 12 will also be a budget device that targets customers looking for an affordable smartphone. While we wait for more information to be released, we can expect the device to have a similar battery size and charging capability to its predecessor. However, it remains to be seen if the Redmi 12 will feature an upgraded chipset or camera system. We’ll have to wait for the official announcement from Redmi to know for sure.
