The anticipation around the Samsung Galaxy Smart Tag 2 is growing as new details emerge about this innovative device. With recent regulatory approvals from Bluetooth SIG, FCC, and Thailand’s NBTC, it’s clear that the Smart Tag 2 is gearing up for an imminent launch, speculated to be in October.

Sleek Renders Unveil the Smart Tag 2

While an exact launch date remains elusive, UK retailer MobileFun has hinted at an impending debut. Revealing official-looking renders, the retailer showcases the Smart Tag 2 in two stylish color variants: black and white. These renders, accompanied by part numbers like EI-T5600BBEGEU and EI-T5600BWEGEU, validate previous leaks and signal a complete redesign from its predecessor.

UWB Integration and Enhanced Functionality

Rumors have gained momentum suggesting that Samsung is integrating ultra-wideband (UWB) support into the Smart Tag 2. This strategic move could significantly improve location accuracy and foster seamless integration with the Android Find My Device network, potentially reaching a wider user base. In a departure from its predecessor, every Galaxy SmartTag 2 is expected to feature both Bluetooth and UWB connectivity, eliminating the need for split variants.

Price Point and Market Strategy

MobileFun has listed pre-order pricing for individual Smart Tag 2 units at £42.99 (~$54), although this might differ from Samsung’s official pricing strategy across regions. To put this in context, the original SmartTag entered the market at $29.99 in the US.

Revolutionizing Personal Item Tracking

The Smart Tag 2’s standout feature lies in its potential to redefine personal item tracking. Leveraging the SmartThings Find app, users can attach the device to their belongings and monitor their real-time location. The redesigned form factor enhances both functionality and versatility, opening doors for third-party accessory manufacturers to innovate with attachments and enhancements.

Creating Virtual Perimeters for Added Security

One of the expected functionalities of the Smart Tag 2 is the ability to establish virtual perimeters. Users can define safe zones and receive mobile notifications whenever the SmartTag 2 ventures beyond these boundaries. This added security layer caters to users seeking to keep their valuable possessions within specific areas.

Unveiling in Line with Other Samsung Releases?

With indications pointing towards an October launch, it’s possible that the Smart Tag 2’s introduction might coincide with other anticipated Samsung releases, such as the Galaxy Tab S9 FE series and the Galaxy S23 FE. This alignment could create an exciting ecosystem of new devices and features for Samsung enthusiasts.
