Ather Energy, a prominent player in the electric vehicle sector, has unveiled plans for its third manufacturing facility in Maharashtra, marking a significant stride amidst escalating consumer demand and an expanding product lineup. The new facility is slated to be established at Aurangabad Industrial City (AURIC).

 

Investment Boost and Strategic Location

Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, confirmed an investment exceeding Rs. 2000 crore following discussions with Ather’s co-founder, Swapnil Jain. Fadnavis emphasized that the selection of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar underscores the region’s pivotal role in Maharashtra’s economic landscape.

Manufacturing Capacity and Job Creation

The state-of-the-art facility is anticipated to churn out up to 1 million units of vehicles and battery packs annually, fostering employment opportunities for approximately 4,000 individuals. This initiative supplements Ather’s existing manufacturing setups in Bengaluru and Tamil Nadu.

 

Expansion and Product Diversification

Ather Energy has been progressively expanding its business footprint and product portfolio. Recently introduced innovations include the Rizta family scooter, boasting a range of up to 160km, and the cutting-edge Halo smart helmet featuring integrated Harman Kardon speakers.

 

Sustainability Milestones

At the recent Community Day event, Ather disclosed impressive figures: 2.37 lakh owners, 2,440 Grids nationwide, savings amounting to Rs. 524 crore on petrol, and an environmental impact of reducing 6,321 crore kg of CO2 emissions.

 

Strategic Implications and Economic Growth

This expansion initiative is expected to bolster Ather’s distribution capabilities in North India and cater to the burgeoning demand for electric vehicles.
