Qualcomm has officially announced the dates for its highly anticipated Snapdragon Summit 2024, where the next-generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 mobile platform will be unveiled. Don McGuire, CMO of Qualcomm, confirmed that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC will be the highlight of the event, featuring significant upgrades in both CPU and NPU capabilities.

 

Snapdragon 8 Gen 4: Key Features

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset is expected to be a game-changer, manufactured on TSMC’s first-generation 3nm process. This advanced fabrication technology will enhance performance while improving power efficiency.

 

Clock Speed: Peak clock speed of up to 4GHz.

 

Geekbench Scores:

Single-core: 3,000 points

Multi-core: 10,000 points

 

Architecture: Octa-core setup with two prime cores and six high-performance cores.

 

GPU: Adreno 830, reportedly outperforming Apple’s M2 chipset in 3DMark Wild Life Extreme Stress Test by 10%.

 

Performance: Capable of running intensive games like Genshin Impact smoothly for extended periods with stable frame rates.

 

Qualcomm Oryon and New NPU

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will introduce Qualcomm Oryon, a supercharged CPU designed to handle demanding tasks with ease. Additionally, the new Neural Processing Unit (NPU) will enhance AI and machine learning capabilities, enabling more efficient processing and smarter device interactions.

 

First Adopters

Xiaomi is tipped to launch the first device featuring the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC, likely the Xiaomi 15 series. Following closely, OnePlus and iQOO are expected to release the OnePlus 13 and iQOO 13 series, respectively, incorporating Qualcomm’s latest flagship chipset.
