Samsung’s upcoming flagship, the Galaxy S24 Ultra, is expected to come exclusively with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, continuing the trend of using Snapdragon for its top-end models.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3: A Technological Marvel

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will make history as the first 3nm processor in the Android segment. Currently, the iPhone 15 Pro’s A17 Pro chipset is the only 3nm processor available in consumer markets. Qualcomm is set to unveil its latest flagship at the Snapdragon Summit event on October 24, and it promises groundbreaking performance.

Exynos Returns for Base Models

While the S24 Ultra goes all-in with Snapdragon, Samsung isn’t entirely forsaking Exynos. The company plans to offer Exynos 2400 models for the standard Galaxy S24 and the Galaxy S24+, catering to select markets.

The Exynos 2400: Advancing Technology

The Exynos 2400, spotted on benchmarking platforms, boasts Samsung’s in-house 4nm architecture and a ten-core configuration. Moreover, it’s expected to feature AI-based functionalities, enhancing the overall user experience.

The Camera Upgrade: A 50MP Sensor with 5X Zoom

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is anticipated to receive a significant camera upgrade. Reports suggest it will feature a new 50MP sensor with a 5X zoom periscope lens, a notable improvement over the 10MP sensor used in the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Samsung’s Exynos Journey: A Unique Perspective

Samsung’s use of Exynos processors has been a topic of debate among users. While it has faced thermal issues in the past, the company continues to invest in its Exynos division. Samsung has been developing Exynos chipsets for over a decade and is one of the few companies, alongside Apple, with the capacity to produce processors in-house. This strategy helps reduce production costs, close the hardware-software gap, and maintain competition in the processor market.

The Future of Exynos

Samsung is unlikely to abandon its Exynos division in favor of using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips exclusively. With its own foundries for silicon fabrication, Samsung can develop Exynos processors independently, ensuring it remains a valuable competitor to Qualcomm in the flagship smartphone market.

In summary, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra’s Snapdragon-only approach for its flagship model signals a commitment to cutting-edge technology, while Exynos variants will cater to specific markets. Samsung’s dedication to Exynos development reflects its strategy to maintain a competitive edge in the ever-evolving smartphone industry.
