London-based tech company Nothing has released a new software update for its sleek and transparent Nothing Phone (1). The Nothing OS 1.5.4 update is now available globally and offers several improvements, fixes, and new features.
Users Can Download Updates via Settings
The update is being rolled out in stages and can be downloaded via “Settings > System > System update.” The updated file size is 119 MB, and users are advised to download and install it to enjoy the new features.
New Feedback Feature for Improved User Experience
One of the most significant changes in the update is the introduction of a feedback feature that allows users to report issues or give suggestions to the developers. This feature helps developers continue improving the OS.
Optimized Power Consumption and Smoother QR Code Transactions
The update reduces standby power consumption by optimizing the 4G/5G network switching function, resulting in longer battery life. The Bluetooth function in Quick Settings has also been optimized, making it easier to access paired devices. The update also introduces smoother QR code transactions that allow users to scan UPI QR codes directly through the camera app and complete transactions using a payment app on their device. This feature is only available in select regions.
Improved Fingerprint Unlocking and Animation
The update optimizes the fingerprint pattern unlocking experience, making it more responsive and accurate. The pop-up view animations are now smoother, providing a more seamless experience. The update also integrates Google Safety Center and offers NDot Cyrillic font support for Belarusian, Bulgarian, Macedonian, Russian, Serbian, and Ukrainian.
Addressed Issues
The update addresses several issues that have been reported by users, including freeze issues during pop-up view, improved notification display in Quick Settings, error messages during face unlock setup, and incoming call notifications that come through without delay.
Android 14 Beta 1 Coming Soon
Nothing Phone (1) will receive Android 14 Beta 1 in the coming weeks for users that opt-in, making it one of the first Android devices (besides Google Pixel) to receive early access to the latest Android version. Additionally, fans can expect the launch of the Nothing Phone (2) this summer.
The Nothing Phone (1) continues to evolve with each software update, providing a unique and user-friendly experience to its users. With the introduction of new features and improvements, the phone remains a top choice for those who value simplicity, transparency, and innovation.
