Powertrain, Battery, and Performance

The Harrier EV is underpinned by Tata’s new Gen 2 acti.ev+ architecture, built specifically for electric powertrains. It comes with two battery configurations — 65 kWh and 75 kWh, offering an IDC-certified range of up to 627 km. In real-world conditions, users can expect 480–505 km per charge.

The dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) variant delivers an impressive 390 bhp and 504 Nm of torque, capable of accelerating the SUV from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.3 seconds.

It supports 120 kW DC fast charging, which can juice the battery from 0–80% in just 25 minutes, ensuring minimal downtime during road trips.

Bold and Aerodynamic Design Enhancements

While it retains the commanding road presence of the ICE Harrier, the EV version sports several distinctive design tweaks:

Closed-off EV grille

Sharpened LED light signatures

Reprofiled front and rear bumpers

Aero-optimized alloy wheels

A special Stealth Edition with matte black finish

These design upgrades enhance aerodynamics and set the Harrier EV apart from its fossil-fuel counterpart.

Tech-Loaded Interior & Infotainment

The cabin of the Tata Harrier EV is loaded with features that rival luxury SUVs. Highlights include:

12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto

10.25-inch fully digital driver display with EV-specific metrics

JBL premium 10-speaker audio system

Ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, and a panoramic sunroof

Touch-based HVAC controls and a wireless phone charger

Connectivity is powered by iRA Connected Car Tech, enabling remote charging, location tracking, and climate control—all from a smartphone.

ADAS & Safety Suite

Tata has taken safety seriously with the Harrier EV, equipping it with a Level 2 ADAS package, including:

Adaptive Cruise Control

Lane-Keep Assist

Autonomous Emergency Braking

Blind Spot Detection

360-degree Camera

TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System)

Hill Hold & Hill Descent Assist

This ensures peace of mind on highways and in urban traffic alike.

Next-Gen EV Tech Features

The Harrier EV pushes the envelope with some truly futuristic features:

Vehicle-to-Load (V2L): Power external appliances like laptops or camping gear directly from the vehicle

Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging: Share power with another EV in an emergency

Summon Mode: Move the vehicle forward or backward via the key fob for tight spaces

By-wire controls and advanced torque vectoring for enhanced off-road capability

Off-Road Prowess Demonstrated

To prove its mettle, Tata demonstrated the Harrier EV climbing the Elephant Rock in Kerala, a 3,937-foot-high off-road terrain. The AWD system and tuned traction control software tackled the challenge effortlessly, making it off-road ready.

Availability & Market Strategy

Tata Motors will begin Harrier EV bookings on July 2, 2025, with deliveries expected shortly after. The company retains the Harrier brand name to draw on its existing customer base, while transforming it into an electric avatar for the future.

Conclusion

The Tata Harrier EV sets a new benchmark in India’s electric SUV landscape. With long-range capabilities, cutting-edge technology, and advanced driver aids, it is positioned as a compelling choice for those transitioning to electric without compromising on performance, space, or features.

Whether you’re an eco-conscious commuter or an adventure-loving driver, the Harrier EV is a power-packed, premium electric SUV ready to electrify Indian roads.
