Reliance Jio, the Indian telecommunications giant, has recently launched its true 5G services in 20 more cities, bringing the total tally of cities covered to 277. The move is a significant step in the company’s ongoing efforts to bring high-speed internet to every corner of India, as part of the country’s digital transformation.
The latest expansion includes cities like Patna, Varanasi, Thiruvananthapuram, and Ranchi, among others. With this development, Reliance Jio has become the largest 5G network provider in the country, covering major cities and rural areas alike.
According to a statement by Reliance Jio, the new 5G services will provide ultra-fast internet speeds and low latency, enabling users to stream high-definition videos, participate in online gaming, and utilize other high-bandwidth applications with ease. The company has also claimed that its 5G network is secure and reliable, with state-of-the-art encryption and other security measures.
The launch of true 5G services by Reliance Jio comes at a time when India is preparing to auction 5G spectrum to telecom operators. While the auction has been delayed multiple times, the government has recently stated that it aims to hold the auction in the first half of 2022.
Reliance Jio, which has invested heavily in its 5G infrastructure, is likely to be a major player in the upcoming auction. The company has already tested its 5G network in multiple cities and has also partnered with global tech giants like Qualcomm, Samsung, and Ericsson to develop and deploy its 5G technology.
The expansion of 5G services by Reliance Jio is also likely to have a significant impact on India’s digital economy, which is expected to reach $1 trillion by 2025. With high-speed internet becoming more accessible, businesses can leverage technology to expand their reach, increase efficiency, and drive innovation.
