Apple President Tim Cook opened the company’s second retail store in India on April 20, and it has quickly become one of Delhi’s most memorable places to visit. Located on the first floor of the Select CityWalk shopping center, the new Apple store is designed to provide customers with a more personal and intimate shopping experience.
Hundreds of people lined up outside the store in the early morning, waiting for a chance to get a glimpse of the Apple President and explore the new store. The store is expected to boost the company’s presence in the offline retail market and improve the buying experience for customers.
A more personal and intimate shopping experience
Compared to the Apple BKC store in Mumbai, which is more spacious and grand, the Apple Saket store in Delhi is more personal and intimate. The store features a unique curved storefront and white oak tables that showcase Apple’s many accessories and products. There are separate sections for Apple TV, Apple Music, Apple Arcade, Apple accessories, and iPhones.
In essence, the store will showcase all of the products that are currently available in India. Visitors will be able to touch, feel, and purchase the items in the store. The staff at the Apple Saket store consists of 70 people from 18 different states in India who can assist customers in about 15 languages.
Virtuoso Bar and Pickup Zone
One of the highlights of the Apple Saket store is the Virtuoso Bar, where customers can get advice and help from the store staff. There is also a Pickup zone where customers can select any Apple product from this section to order online.
According to Counterpoint data, Apple currently controls the premium smartphone market in India, with iPhones accounting for 65% of smartphones priced above Rs. 30,000 sold there. However, its overall market share in the country still remains small compared to some competitors. With the opening of the new store, Apple is expected to expand its presence in the Indian market.
Sustainable and carbon-neutral
Like all other Apple stores, the Apple Saket store runs on 100% sustainable power and is carbon-neutral. Deirdre O’Brien, Apple’s senior vice president of Retail, said, “Our incredible team members look forward to connecting with the local community and helping them find new ways to pursue their passions and unleash their creativity through our amazing products and services.”
Final thoughts
The opening of the Apple Saket store is a significant milestone for the company and its customers in India. The store’s design, customer service, and product offerings are expected to attract more customers to Apple’s brand in the Indian market. The company is likely to open more stores in India in the near future, which will further strengthen its position in the country.
