Vivo is gearing up for the release of its latest foldable phones, the Vivo X Fold2 and X Flip, in China on April 20. The specs for both devices have been revealed ahead of their official launch. The flagship Snapdragon SoCs of the Vivo X Fold2 and X Flip will be found inside. They will also come in three color options, have a main camera with 50MP and a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and a fingerprint scanner built into the display, among other features.
Vivo X Fold2 Specifications
The Vivo X Fold2 has a vertically folding main display that measures 8.03 inches, with a resolution of 2,160 x 1,916 pixels, a 4:3.5 aspect ratio, and 360 ppi. The secondary display has a height of 6.53 inches, a 21:9 aspect ratio, a resolution of 2,520 x 1,080 pixels, and a pixel density of 420 ppi. Both displays have a 120Hz refresh rate and support HDR10+. The handset weighs 280 grams and measures 161.3mm ×73.4mm ×13mm (6-6.7mm when unfurled).
The Vivo X Fold2 is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen2 SoC paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB/512GB UFS 4.0 storage. The 4,800mAh battery can be charged quickly with wired and wireless chargers at speeds of 50W and 120W, respectively. The handset features triple cameras: a 50MP primary sensor with f/1.75 aperture, a 12MP f/2.0 ultrawide lens with a 108-degree field of view, and a 12MP portrait unit with a 47mm focal length. For selfies and video calls, the phone has a 16MP front camera. It will be available in Blue, Black, and Red color options.
Vivo X Flip Specifications
On the other hand, the Vivo X Flip has a more modest set of specifications. It features a 6.74-inch AMOLED display that supports HDR10+, has a resolution of 2,520x1080p, a refresh rate of 120Hz, 406ppi, and a 21:9 aspect ratio. The cover display has a height of 3 inches. The phone is powered by a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB/512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The phone has a 4,400mAh battery that can be charged quickly with 44W.
The Vivo X Flip features a 32MP primary camera (f/1.75) and a 12MP optional super wide lens with a 108-degree field of view and f/2.2. The front-facing 32MP camera will be used for taking selfies. The flip will also include an in-display fingerprint scanner, just like the X Fold2. It weighs 200 grams and measures 166.4 x 75.3 x 8.2 mm. It will be available in shades of purple, black, and gold.
Software and Design
The software for the Vivo X Fold2 and X Flip has not been revealed yet, but it is expected that they will come pre-installed with Android 13. The design of the phones is likely to be similar to that of foldable and flip phones that are already on the market. However, the Vivo X Fold 2 is said to have much slimmer and more.
