OnePlus recently launched the limited-edition OnePlus Ace 2 Genshin Impact during a launch event in China. The company also introduced several new accessories, including the OnePlus 45W Liquid Cooling back clip. The gadget is a fluid cooling radiator designed for smartphones and is presumed to be the first of its kind in the market. Although OnePlus first announced the product in February 2023, pricing and availability details were not immediately available.

The OnePlus liquid cooling back clip is designed to snap onto the back panel of a smartphone to dissipate heat generated by resource-intensive activities like gaming. High-end smartphones with powerful CPUs require a lot of power and produce heat, which can be problematic for extended use. To address this issue, manufacturers have been incorporating internal cooling systems in flagship and mid-range models. However, external cooling devices like air-cooled radiators have been developed for devices that have insufficient internal cooling mechanisms.

The new OnePlus 45W Liquid cooling device comprises two essential components: a component attached to the back panel of the smartphone and a second box-shaped cooling pump connected to the first component via a cable. When the cooling gadget is snapped onto a smartphone, it begins working automatically and stops when disconnected. OnePlus claims that the 45W Liquid Cooling back clip can reduce a device’s temperature by up to 20°C, which is a significant improvement compared to the current air-cooled radiator from OnePlus. The external cooling pump has a 180,000mm2 cold radiator with a heat dissipation power of 45W, while the back clip consists of a 40mm x 40mm TEC cooling sheet.

Although the OnePlus 45W Liquid Cooling back clip might offer better cooling and longer use time, its design could pose a challenge for some users. The gadget comes with a wire that connects the back clip to the cooling pump, which could be cumbersome for some. However, for users who require high-performance and extended use from their smartphones, the OnePlus 45W Liquid Cooling back clip could be an innovative solution. It is currently available in China for 469 yuan ($68), and we expect it to be available worldwide soon.
