Google has officially released the February 2025 software update for its Pixel smartphones and tablets. The latest patch brings crucial bug fixes, security enhancements, and functional improvements, addressing persistent issues related to Bluetooth connectivity, audio output, and software vulnerabilities.

Fixes an audio issue affecting Android Auto in Pixel 6 to Pixel 9 Pro Fold devices.

 

Resolves a Bluetooth connectivity problem exclusive to the Pixel 9 series.

 

Includes a security patch for a critical software vulnerability (CVE-2024-53842).

Bug Fixes for Audio and Bluetooth Issues

The update addresses two key functional issues reported by users:

 

Android Auto Audio Fix: Some Pixel users experienced distorted or inconsistent audio output when using Android Auto. This update ensures smoother and more stable audio performance across Pixel 6 to Pixel 9 Pro Fold devices.

 

Bluetooth Connectivity Fix: Certain Bluetooth devices failed to connect with Pixel 9 series smartphones due to an underlying software glitch. Google has now resolved this issue, improving overall connectivity.

 

Security Patch for Critical Vulnerability

Google has also included a security fix for a major vulnerability listed under CVE-2024-53842, which affected the baseband subcomponent. This issue, marked as “critical,” has now been patched, strengthening the overall security of Pixel devices.

The February 2025 update is being rolled out to the following devices:

Google Pixel Tablet

Google Pixel Fold

Google Pixel 7 Series

Google Pixel 6 Series

 

How to Download the Update

The update, with the build number AP4A.250205.002, is being rolled out in phases. For devices tied to T-Mobile, Telstra, and EMEA, additional identifiers C1, B2, and A1 are assigned. Users can check for the update manually by navigating to Settings > System > Software Update and tapping Check for Update.

 

The update is approximately 15.48MB in size for Pixel 9 but may vary depending on the device. As always, Google recommends installing updates as soon as they become available to ensure optimal security and device performance.
