Vodafone Idea (Vi) has officially rolled out its 5G services in Bengaluru, further expanding its next-gen network footprint in India. Starting June 11, Vi users in India’s tech capital can experience high-speed 5G connectivity, low-latency performance, and advanced features backed by AI and energy-efficient infrastructure. This move is part of Vi’s broader ambition to deploy 5G across all 17 of its priority telecom circles by August 2025.
Bengaluru Becomes a Key 5G Hub for Vi
Bengaluru, known as the country’s digital innovation hub, has now joined cities like Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Patna, and Chandigarh in Vi’s growing 5G network map. The rollout highlights Vi’s strategic focus on high-tech urban markets with strong digital adoption and enterprise growth.
Speaking about the launch, Anand Dani, Business Head – Karnataka, Vodafone Idea, remarked, “We’re excited to bring Vi 5G to Bengaluru, a city that stands at the forefront of tech and digital innovation. With our next-gen 5G and enhanced 4G network, we aim to deliver enhanced experiences to our users.”
Unlimited 5G Data Plans: Prepaid and Postpaid Options
To support its Bengaluru 5G launch, Vi has introduced a range of 5G-enabled plans tailored for diverse users. All plans currently include unlimited 5G data under an introductory offer, allowing users to enjoy the full benefits of Vi’s new high-speed network.
Prepaid Plans:
₹299: 1GB/day for 28 days
₹349: 1.5GB/day for 28 days
₹365: 2GB/day for 28 days
₹3,599: 2GB/day for 365 days
Postpaid Plans (Vi Max):
₹451: Monthly plan with 50GB+ benefits
₹551 & ₹751: Up to 150GB monthly data, unlimited 5G
Vi is currently the only telecom operator offering unlimited 5G data on plans with less than 2GB of daily usage—an aggressive strategy to attract cost-conscious users and encourage early 5G adoption.
5G Compatibility and Supported Devices
Vi’s 5G services are compatible with VoLTE-enabled smartphones released after January 1, 2020. Users can activate 5G services by enabling 5G from their device settings and restarting their phones. A complete list of compatible handsets and FAQs is available on Vi’s dedicated 5G microsite.
Next-Gen Infrastructure with Samsung and AI Integration
Vodafone Idea is not only focused on 5G coverage but also on optimizing network performance and energy efficiency. In partnership with Samsung, Vi has deployed:
AI-powered Self-Organising Networks (SON) for automated performance tuning
High-transmit-power, multi-technology radios
Energy-efficient infrastructure to reduce carbon footprint
These upgrades are expected to significantly improve both network quality and sustainability—a key area of focus in India’s growing telecom ecosystem.
Conclusion
The rollout of Vodafone Idea’s 5G services in Bengaluru signals a major step in its digital roadmap. With aggressive pricing, unlimited data offers, AI-powered performance tuning, and green infrastructure, Vi is positioning itself as a strong player in India’s competitive 5G space. As the telco continues its phased expansion across 17 circles, users in other cities can expect similar next-gen experiences in the months ahead.
