The anticipation for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 continues to grow as more details emerge about its features and specifications. Recently, there were reports suggesting that the device might come with an IP58 rating for dust and water resistance. However, a reliable tipster known as Ice Universe, who has a good track record with Samsung leaks, has revealed that the Z Fold 5 will not have an IP58 rating.

Water Resistance Expectations for the Galaxy Z Fold 5

Based on the tipster’s claim, it is likely that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will maintain the IPX8 water resistance level found in its predecessor models. This means that the device will be able to withstand submersion in water up to a certain depth for a limited time. While it may not have the IP58 rating, the Z Fold 5 is expected to offer adequate protection against accidental splashes and brief exposure to water.

Display Crease and Design Similarities

In addition to the water resistance information, Ice Universe also mentioned that the Z Fold 5 will feature a similar display crease on the inner foldable screen as its predecessor, the Z Fold 4. Contrary to earlier reports that suggested Samsung had implemented a new waterdrop hinge to reduce the visibility of the crease, the tipster’s claim indicates that the crease on the Z Fold 5 will be virtually indistinguishable from that of its predecessor.

Rumored Specifications of the Galaxy Z Fold 5

Reports have provided some insights into the expected specifications of the Galaxy Z Fold 5. The device is rumored to sport a 7.6-inch inner foldable display and a 6.2-inch cover display, both featuring AMOLED panels with a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth scrolling and fluid visuals. It is expected to run on the One UI 5.1.1-based Android 13 operating system and offer a side-facing fingerprint sensor for secure unlocking.

Under the hood, the Z Fold 5 is likely to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chipset, operating at 3.36GHz. It may come equipped with 12GB of LPDDR5x RAM and offer up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage, ensuring ample space for multitasking and storing large files. The device could house a 4,400mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging and 15W wireless charging, providing efficient power management.

In terms of cameras, the Z Fold 5 might feature a 10-megapixel front-facing camera for high-quality selfies and video calls. It is also rumored to have a 4-megapixel under-screen camera, allowing for an uninterrupted display experience. On the rear, the device is expected to boast an impressive camera setup consisting of a 50-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 12-megapixel telephoto camera, enabling users to capture stunning photos and videos.

While these specifications are based on rumors and leaks, they provide a glimpse into what can be expected from the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5. As the official launch date approaches, more concrete details will be unveiled, allowing enthusiasts to get a comprehensive understanding of the device’s capabilities.
